Jan 19, 2010

We are very pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of some new tools and features with the release of globaledit version 3.9 including:

  • Performance Enhancements
    • Faster image loading speeds in the Library Manager
    • Increased speed for file transfers up to 100 Mbps
    • Faster loading times for the Gallery Manager
    • Improved speed for loading metadata schemas
  • New Auto-complete feature makes it more convenient to send Approval Galleries and Dropboxes
  • Enhanced search tool to browse the system for assets based on rights restriction date
  • ALL NEW GEDi Beta the globaledit Desktop Integrator.  Available for qualified groups during our pilot program

In August, we set out to build a workflow feature that would simplify the photo delivery and assignment process and remove the barriers inherent to the current process.  Our goals were clear:

  • Make it easy for photographers, techs, studio managers, and any outside partner or vendor to upload content into globaledit
  • Provide photo editors, managers, and coordinators with comprehensive management tools
  • Deliver the fastest possible upload and processing speeds

On Saturday, January 9 we updated our production network and made the Dropbox workflow available to our clients.  Dropboxes provide separate interfaces and tools for the two types of users involved:

  • Photographers, techs, studio managers, and outside partners upload into globaledit using the Dropbox uploader.  This is a simple, secure, high-speed web uploader that makes it easy for anyone to upload files into globaledit
  • Managers and Administrators control assignments using the Dropbox Manager.  They can create new assignments, define what metadata they know and what they’ll need from the uploader, configure automatic access for photo editors or creatives, set notifications, and set job notes and expiration dates for all new assignments.  It’s also easy to find and sort through previous photo assignments, change assignment configurations, and generate reports on exactly which files were uploaded and by whom.

We’re very pleased with the results of this build and have had excellent feedback from our pre-release partners.  If you would like to find out more, please contact us at or call our New York office at 212-334-3353.

All the best for 2010,

Aaron Holm
